Terms of Use
Last Revised: September 4, 2026These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply to the use of Flashcards GG (hereinafter "the App"), provided by flashcards.gg ("Developer", "we", "ours" or "us"). By using the App you are indicating that you have read and understood these Terms and you consent to be bound by them. We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time.
The App
Flashcards GG is a flashcard application that helps you create, study, and share flashcard sets. The App allows you to create flashcards manually or with AI assistance, study using multiple modes, sync data across devices, share flashcard sets with others via links, and — if you choose to — make your AI-generated sets available to all learners in the shared library.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the App. Some features have a higher minimum age, which is stated where the feature is offered. By using the App you confirm that you meet these requirements and that you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
Use of the App
The App is provided free of charge. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your personal and educational purposes, subject to these Terms.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to, and not to attempt to:
- use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations, or infringes the rights of others;
- upload, generate, or share content that is unlawful, infringing, harmful, abusive, or that you do not have the right to share;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, keys, or credentials from the App, except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
- interfere with, overload, or disrupt the App or our servers, or bypass rate limits, security, or access controls;
- use automated means to access or scrape the App, or resell or commercially exploit the App, without our prior written consent.
In addition, content you share — via a link or in the shared library — must not:
- contain personal data of other people (names together with contact details, health, religion, sexuality, political views, or other sensitive information about an identifiable person);
- reproduce copyrighted material you do not have the right to share (song lyrics, poems, book passages, exam papers and the like);
- be sexually explicit, hateful, violent, or harassing;
- be advertising, spam, or deliberately misleading.
We may decline to publish, hide, or remove any content that in our reasonable view breaches these rules, and we do not have to explain the details of our automated checks.
We may investigate and take appropriate action against any suspected violation, including removing content and suspending or terminating access.
Accounts
The App offers optional sign-in via Google or Apple. If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You may delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
AI-Generated Content
The App offers AI-powered flashcard generation. AI-generated content is provided as-is and may not always be accurate, complete or up to date; it is not professional, medical, legal or financial advice. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated flashcards before relying on them, and for reviewing them before you share them. We do not guarantee the correctness, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated content.
Content produced by AI may not be protected by copyright. We make no ownership claim to AI-generated flashcards: to the extent any rights exist in them, you may use them freely for your personal and educational purposes, and you may share them as described under "Your Content and the Shared Library". You should not claim copyright in AI-generated content as your own original work. AI generation is subject to usage limits and to automated safety filters, and we may refuse or stop a generation. Sets in the shared library were generated by AI at another user's request and are shown as they were published; they can contain mistakes, so check important facts before relying on them.
Your Content and the Shared Library
Your own content. You retain ownership of the flashcard content you author yourself. When you share a flashcard set via a link, the content becomes accessible to anyone with that link. You are responsible for ensuring that content you share does not infringe the rights of others or breach these Terms.
The shared library. The shared library is an optional feature that makes your AI-generated sets available to all users of the App and on public pages of flashcards.gg (the library at flashcards.gg/lib), which search engines and other automated services — including AI assistants — may read and index. It applies only to sets generated from a topic you typed.
You decide once, for your account, whether your topic-generated sets — those you have already generated and those you generate later — join the library. Nothing is published unless you choose "Yes". You can change your choice at any time in Settings, and you can remove any individual set from the library at any time; both take effect promptly on our servers.
What is published. A copy of the set as it was when published: its name, the cards, the language, the number of cards and the publish date. Later edits are not published unless you publish the set again. Publication may be delayed or declined by our automated checks (see "Content Moderation, Reports and Disputes"). Every public copy is labelled as shared by a Flashcards.gg user and generated with AI; your name, email address and account are never shown.
Licence you grant. By choosing to publish a set in the shared library, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, index and make the set available to the public (including through search engines, in the App, on our website and in machine-readable form such as plain text or Markdown), and you allow other users of the App to view the set and to copy it into their own library for their personal and educational use. This licence lasts for as long as the set is in the library, ends when you remove it, switch the library off, or delete your account, and continues only for copies that other users had already made and for cached copies that search engines take time to refresh. To the extent AI-generated content is not protected by copyright, this licence is a permission and not a transfer of rights.
Removal by us. We may hide or remove any set from the library at any time, for example after a report, a legal notice, or because our checks or rules changed.
Content Moderation, Reports and Disputes
Before publication. Every set submitted to the shared library is checked automatically for personal data, sensitive information about identifiable people, copyrighted passages, sexual, hateful or violent content, spam, and minimum quality. A set that fails the check is simply not published; it stays private in your account and you are told that it was not added, without the details of the check.
Reporting a set. Anyone can report a set in the library — from its public page on flashcards.gg, without an account, or in the App as a signed-in user — for personal data, copyright, adult or hateful content, wrong or misleading content, or spam, with an optional note. A reported set is removed from the library promptly. Reports must be made in good faith; we may ignore reports from users who repeatedly file baseless reports and, in serious cases, suspend their account.
Review and decision. We review reported sets. If a report turns out to be unfounded we may return the set to the library; otherwise the removal stands and the library copy is deleted within 24 hours. The owner keeps the private copy and may publish the set again after editing it. Our decisions are based on these Terms and the applicable law, and are taken by a person, with the help of automated tools.
If your set is removed. A set taken out of the library after a report shows as removed on the set in the App; your private copy is not affected. If you believe the removal was a mistake, email support@flashcards.gg with the subject "Library dispute" and we will look at it.
Notices from rightsholders and authorities. Notices about content in the App — from copyright owners, other persons whose rights are affected, or public authorities — can be sent to support@flashcards.gg. See "Copyright Notices" below for what a copyright notice must contain. We act on valid notices promptly, keep records of notices and decisions, and may pass a copy of a notice to the user concerned.
Point of contact. For all matters concerning content moderation and for communications from authorities, our single point of contact is support@flashcards.gg. Communications may be in English or Croatian.
Copyright Notices
We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect our users to do the same. We respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with applicable law, including the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). We may remove or disable access to content that is the subject of a valid notice, and we may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. This applies to content shared via links and to sets in the shared library.
If you are a copyright owner (or authorized to act on behalf of one) and believe that content made available through the App infringes your copyright, the fastest way to request removal is our copyright report form, which disables the reported share link or library set promptly upon a valid submission. You may also send a written notice to support@flashcards.gg with the subject line "Copyright / DMCA Notice". In either case, please include all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature;
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
- Identification of the material you claim is infringing, together with information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it (for example, the share link or URL);
- Your contact information (name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address);
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
A notice that meets these requirements also serves as a notice under Article 16 of the EU Digital Services Act. If your notice concerns something other than copyright (for example personal data, defamation, or illegal content), use the same address and describe why you consider the content illegal, where it is, and your name and email address.
Counter-notification. If your content was removed or disabled and you believe this was the result of a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notification to the same address, including your signature, identification of the material and the location from which it was removed, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of a mistake or misidentification, and your name, address, telephone number, and consent to the jurisdiction of a court of competent jurisdiction.
Please note that under applicable law you may be liable for damages if you knowingly and materially misrepresent that material is infringing or was removed by mistake.
Property Rights
In the relationship between Developer and you, Developer retains all rights, title and interest in the App, including all intellectual property rights. "Intellectual Property Rights" means all patents, copyrights, moral rights, trademark rights, trade secrets and any other forms of intellectual property rights recognized in any jurisdiction.
Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Developer and its affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) the content you create, upload, generate, or share; (b) your use or misuse of the App; or (c) your violation of these Terms, applicable law, or the rights of any third party.
Third-Party Services
The App relies on third-party services, including Google (Firebase Authentication, Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics, Google Gemini for AI generation, Google Cloud for hosting, Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications, and Google Ads) and Apple (Sign in with Apple). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. For details on what data we collect and how it is used, see our Privacy Policy.
Disclaimer
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY REPRESENTATIONS, WARRANTIES, OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL WORK UNINTERRUPTED, WITHOUT ERRORS, OR BE TOTALLY SECURE. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE WHICH MAY BE CAUSED BY THE USE OF THE APP.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL DEVELOPER BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF USE, LOSS OF REVENUE, LOSS OF GOODWILL, LOSS OF OR DAMAGE TO DATA, OR FOR ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING FROM OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF THE APP.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the liability (which, for a free app, is typically zero) or (b) USD 50.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law. If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect your mandatory statutory rights.
Changes to the App
We are continuously improving the App. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App (including features) at any time, with or without notice, and we are not liable to you or any third party for doing so. We may also impose or change limits on certain features (for example, AI-generation quotas). The shared library and the public pages are features we may change, pause, or withdraw, including removing all published sets, without this affecting your private content.
Suspension & Termination
You can stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device, and you may delete your account and associated data at any time using the "Delete Account" option in the App or by contacting us.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App or your account, in whole or in part, at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law, to protect the App, other users, or third parties, or to comply with a legal requirement. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including Property Rights, Indemnification, Disclaimer, and Limitation of Liability) will survive.
Applicable Law
Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory rights you have under the laws of the country where you live. Where those laws apply, they govern your use of the App, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
Severability & Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect, and the unenforceable provision will be applied to the maximum extent permitted by law. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App and supersede any prior agreements. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of it.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised date will be shown at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
